Even though this is a "+p", it's a powder puff load out of a SW 686 4 inch. Accurateness is awesome to kick. When I was a kid back in the 60'south all the Dallas cops carried this load. It had a reputation as "stopper" of bad intentions.

Dearest this round in the heavy GP100, but suggest non to use in South&Due west J frame Airweights (ie, 442, 638, 637, 442) since the ammo lacks a firm coil crimp (I cannot discern any crimp as a matter of fact) and every bit a effect causes the bullet to jump its instance at fourth or fifth round.

Since most hollow points in snub nose revolver'due south don't expand. Or if they practice they penetrate deep enough. With that being the example this load is excellent for penetration penetration is way more important then expansion

Just got into revolvers and got these for my 4 inch .357. These old school LSWCHPs are very accurate and easy to shoot. I know that mod JHPs are improve with expansion but existence a younger guy new to the world of wheel guns i understand why this load has the rep it has . Big cheers to Luckygunner for all the ammo test and the peachy experience i had buying ammo from y'all.

As a cop in the 80's, I saw this circular drop a whole bunch of bad guys. It'south a penetrator, minimal to no expansion unless it hits a bone. It's penetration that kills though, not expansion. This round is a handful in an airweight, just smoothen out of a iv" and a powderpuff in a full size 357. Information technology does burn down dirty, just information technology'south a great self defense round for a 38spl.

This stuff will mushroom out when shot from the shortest snubnosed revolvers, and it really flattens out and curls around when fired from the likes of a Model 10, fourteen, 19, 66, or 586 with a six inch barrel. Even 3 inches adds lots of velocity over a 2 5/eight" barrel, but this ammo expands. They did not have Break Free CLP in the 1970s, & 1980s, so bug with leading in .357 K Frame S&Ws led to forcing cone failures. Go on the lead cleaned out of your .357 Grand frames! This stuff is meliorate in a J frame airweight .357 than full firm 158 grain .357 loads! Yes, I would probably have something like HTP or Silvertips in 158 grain, simply it's no fun for me to shoot from the J Frame! It's bang-up from a Detective Special, but those are heavier loftier carbon steel frames, and the lockup is 2nd to NONE with the Colt D & I frame. Lots of old cops hated cleaning up afterward this ammo, merely they didn't have very good CLPs back then. BreakFree melted sixty years of leading out of dad'south old Superpose. It works about the same with this stuff and a wheel gun. Accurateness is very practiced, not fantabulous. Expansion is superb! Cleanup, is more often than not lead, and some soot. Inspect the forcing cones on your M Frame .357s! Lots of the lead buildup came from practicing with standard .38 Special SWC target loads. So a .357 load would crack the forcing cone. I smoothen, square, and and then hone my cones to a perfect cylinder, every so frequently. These have not shown any sick effects, then far, and those guns are at least 32 years old. These will expand better than most all jacketed hollow point ammo. Hornady has a few good rounds. I'd even so take these in a small pocket revolver.

158gr pb semi-wadcutter hollow points are very constructive out of a snub-olfactory organ revolver. Chronoed at 972 fps boilerplate from a 2 iii/4" barrel. Recoil is very manageable with very light cage wink for a +p load. Pulverisation burns smokey, and leaves residuum. Smoke notwithstanding, the ammunition is very reliable, accurate, and consistent. Peachy price when purchasing in bulk.

I took a box of the Federal 158 grain 38 special +P LSWCHP (FBI loads) to the range today. I was shooting a Kimber K6s and a Ruger GP-100 Match Champion, both at seven yards to target.

The Kimber shot high with this round with consequent, tight groupings. Even though it's a heavy +P load, I was able to shoot information technology without likewise much discomfort. My thought is, with a little practise, I could become a lot more shots in the black circle.

This circular was outstanding with the Ruger. I got almost every shot in the blackness circumvolve. Running through the Ruger, the shots were pretty mild and easy to control.

This is the fabled "FBI Load", and I was very broken-hearted to try it out. I'one thousand glad I did considering it was i of my favorite rounds I tested today. At that place are other manufacturers who make something similar this. But they price more. I bought these rounds through Lucky Gunner for $23.00 for a box of 50. I as well bought a box of Winchester's (same make upward) but those toll me $37.00 for a box of 50. The clear winner for cost/benefit is the Federal. I will definitely be buying these again!

These rounds performed very well through my Due south&W 686 - 4" butt. I bought these to sight in my Scarlet Trace grip sight. The rounds felt cracking, semi wad cutters gave precise locations on my targets. The rounds were pretty smoky though, and produced a lot of surface crud on my revolver. Cleaned off easily, and so no harm, no "foul". I buy all of my ammo through Lucky Gunner, and really savor the conveience, and pricing of this site.
